Input Sought for Montgomery County Parks and Recreation Master Plan

Post Date:03/23/2026 9:00 AM

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Montgomery County Commission, in partnership with the City of Montgomery and the Town of Pike Road, is inviting residents to help shape the future of parks and recreation across the region through a comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

As part of this effort, residents are encouraged to participate in a newly launched online survey and attend upcoming Public Open House Workshops designed to gather community input and feedback.

The survey provides an opportunity for residents to share what they value most about current parks and recreation offerings, identify areas for improvement, and suggest new amenities or programs that would enhance quality of life across Montgomery County.

Feedback collected will directly inform long-term planning and investment decisions related to parks, trails, sports facilities, programming, and community spaces.

The community survey is quick, accessible, and open to all residents. It can be completed online at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MontgomeryCoParksandRecPlan.

In addition to the survey, residents are invited to attend one of three Public Open House Workshops, which will be held in a drop-in format:

  • March 24 | 6:00 PM
    Park Crossing High School
8000 Park Crossing, Montgomery, AL 36117
  • March 26 | 6:00 PM
    Chisholm Community Center
    545 E Vandiver Blvd, Montgomery, AL 36110
  • March 26 | 6:00 PM
    Gateway Park Lodge
3800 Davenport Drive, Montgomery, AL 36105

These sessions will provide an opportunity for residents to engage directly with planners, share ideas, and help shape priorities for the County’s parks and recreation system.

The survey is also available via QR code on promotional materials and through County and City digital platforms.

Montgomery County officials encourage broad participation to ensure the final master plan reflects the diverse needs and vision of the entire community.
